Drone technology solutions for the palm oil industry

The palm oil industry is one of the most rapidly growing industries globally, with production rising from 7.2 million metric tons in 2004 to an estimated 29 million metric tons in 2020. The industry is concentrated in Southeast Asia, with most production in Indonesia and Malaysia.

However, the industry has faced several challenges, including increasing pest attacks, which can lead to millions of dollars in damage to plantations, loss of product, and lost profits for producers; theft of palm oil products by criminal gangs; and inefficient palm oil production, which can lead to over-reliance on manual labor and high operating costs.

Today, drone technology brings a solution to the palm oil industry, with aerial surveillance capabilities making it possible to identify and address problem areas on the ground in real-time and accurately.
